Chnlove Asian Dating Website Review
77
Internet dating is big business. We all want to find a special somebody, and the idea that our special somebody might be from a different continent is becoming very popular.
Now that China is opening up to the rest of the World, Chinese ladies are discovering that there are thousands of Western men who are looking for Chinese wives. Why do Western men want a Chinese wife? Chinese women take great care of their bodies. They are usually slim and beautiful despite being excellent cooks! They also make devoted wives and mothers.
One of the biggest Chinese/Western Internet dating sites is Chnlove. There are over 9000 ladies' profiles on Chnlove, and tens of thousands of men have signed up to browse the lady profiles on the site. There are many successful marriages that have happened as a result of people meeting through Chnlove. Some day I hope I can add my own success story to these!
It is important to know what Chnlove is. Chnlove should be considered a portal which is used by Chinese marriage agencies to post profiles of their ladies. Chnlove itself is NOT a marriage agency. It simply displays the ladies' profiles and allows men to contact their agencies.
Chnlove is free for men to sign up to - there are no upfront fees. When you sign up you have to upload a photo of yourself and there is room to write a profile. It is also possible to set up a criteria for the automatic matching algorithm. Unlike other sites the matching algorithm is pretty basic, so you have to be prepared to do a lot of searching in order to find your dream Asian partner.
Searching for your Special Somebody on Chnlove
There are over 9000 ladies' profiles on Chnlove, so it's best to have some idea of what kind of person you are looking for. Chnlove has a search facility so it it possible to search on age and province/major city within China. There are girls as young as 18 on the Chnlove website, but bear in mind a Chinese woman cannot marry until she is 21!
Each agency is able to post a few photos of each of their ladies. There are a few details about the lady, such as her name, age, English language ability, occupation, marital status and whether she has children. Many of the women on the site will get professional studio photos taken of themselves. While these photos are extremely flattering, it must be born in mind that they have often been extensively airbrushed to remove imperfections and lighten skin tone (the Chinese consider a pale complexion to be beautiful).
English language ability should be taken with a pinch of salt - since they are not tested using a standardised language test this is very much subjective. Furthermore some ladies have better written English whereas others have better spoken English.
It is also possible to search on religion - I guess some men would like to find a soulmate with similar religious beliefs (there are many Christians in China).
Searching on marital status is also possible, as well as searching for women who have or don't already have children.
The search results pages show a photo of each lady, her name, age, height and weight, and the province of China in which she resides. Clicking on a lady will bring up her profile. The profile contains more information about her. Sometimes profiles are quite detailed (e.g. showing what her aims and aspirations are, and what kind of man she is looking for), whereas other times there is just a romantic poem or something. Translations into English are sometimes bad - I'm not sure if this is accidental or carefully done so as to make a man smile. Chinese ladies mostly have similar hobbies - which are usually some and all of travelling, music, dancing, cooking, sports, reading, shopping and watching movies.
As well as the search facility, it's also possible to just browse the ladies profiles. They can be sorted by profile refresh date and the date of being added to the site.
Contacting Chnlove Chinese Ladies
Chnlove allows men to send ladies simple cupid notes in order to express an interest in a lady. These cupid notes are free of charge. Ladies will often send cupid notes to men. Sometimes these cupid notes are sent by the agency without the lady knowing, so it's best to be slightly wary of these. Some men receive a lot of cupid notes - it is possible to hide your profile as being bombarded with unsuitable ladies can often be a little frustrating.
It is also possible to send letters to the lady. There is a cost involved in sending a letter to a lady, as well as a cost for receiving a letter from a lady. The letter service is quite expensive. However, it is possible to buy credits in bulk which minimises the cost per letter. Payment is possible using credit cards or Paypal.
Not many of the ladies on Chnlove speak or write more than a few words of English, so the Chnlove letter system involves translators at the lady's agency translating your letter and the lady's response from English to Chinese and back into English. This is a surprisingly efficient system (helped by the time difference between China and the West) although it is worth bearing in mind that sometimes things can get lost in translation.
Chnlove makes it possible to request a lady's address details for a small charge. It's nice to be able to do this so that you can send her little gifts. Some ladies will also send their men their contact details.
Ladies can attach photos to their letters. It's usually a good idea to request some more natural photos of a lady rather than her studio photos which may have been airbrushed.
Some agencies have webcam facilities so that it's possible to see your Chinese lovely.
Chnlove also has an online store where it is possible to buy gifts and flowers for your special lady. There are also special seasonal gifts available, such as mooncakes for the mid-Autumn festival. There is a nice collection of gifts available, although prices are generally quite high compared to other online retailers. The good thing is that Chnlove takes care of the delivery of the item in China, which means that the man doesn't have to figure out the complicated Chinese addressing system.
One major thing I don't like about Chnlove is that the site is becoming overwhelmed with ladies from Thailand. I appreciate that the owners of Chnlove want to expand their business to the rest of Asia. I know Thai ladies are lovely. But I knew that I wanted a Chinese wife, so being forced to sort through ladies from different countries is a big turn off for me. It would at least be nice if there was an option to hide the Thai ladies.

Chnlove Scams
I should say at this point that online dating is a lucrative business and competition between sites is fierce. Furthermore, Asian businesses are able to get away with business practices that would get them in a lot of legal trouble in countries such as the UK. It is well known that many of the scam complaints about certain dating websites you see online are often written by different competing websites, so don't read too much into complaints about Chnlove.
Having said that, men have been scammed through the site. This is by no means a Chnlove specific problem - it happens with other online dating websites as well. Come to think of it, if you meet someone through speed dating, in a bar or on a discussion board then there's also a possibility of getting scammed by a dishonest person. Love makes us blind to such scams, so be very careful - especially if money is involved!
Many men have complained that the ladies they write to on Chnlove do not appear to actually exist. For this reason it is important to establish that the lady does exist! Webcam sessions, instant messaging or phone calls can help to verify this. One useful thing is to send a lady a gift then get her to send you a photo of her with the gift.
Other Chnlove Website Facilities
Chnlove does have a support system and I found them fairly helpful. As Chnlove is only a portal for the marriage agencies it is important to bear in mind that there is often not much they can do should a problem with a specific marriage agency or lady arise. Men are also reminded that ladies do sometimes change their mind, and that finding a wife from another continent is not going to be a cheap endevour.
There is a support bulletin board in which it is possible to get useful advice from other male members of the site. Chnlove also maintain a useful list of articles about how to go about dating and marrying a beautiful Chinese lady.
Summary
When I started looking for a my Chinese special somebody, I signed up to Chnlove and was impressed by the huge number of beautiful ladies on the site. I put in a lot of evenings of work searching for my special somebody. I exchanged translator letters with a few ladies, and it wasn't long before I found my special somebody. Chnlove wasn't a cheap option. Very few of the ladies speak or write much English so I knew that this wouldn't be easy. But I am hopeful that I will join the list of the dozens of couples who have met through Chnlove.

I have noticed that 5 of 6 very attractive woman I have mailed are very interested in me despite an age difference of 25 - 30 years. Im 54. Does that ring the wrong bell?
I joined Chnlove last year. I meet a woman that I liked and went to see her last Novermber. I had been told her photo might not look like her. They were right!! I almost dropped my suitcase at the Beijing Airport. She was much better looking in person. I thought she was 20 instead of 40, she showed me her passport. I went back to see her two more times. Her family were great to me. The agency gace me two cell phone numbers if I had any qoestions or problems in China or the US. She will come to the US in Novermber and we will marry. For me Chnlove has made a dream come true
I agree with FLoridian:
STAY AWAY FROM CHNLOVE!! They fake the contacts, fake the love letters and especially fake the email address sent to you upfront. They first want you to converse a little longer through their payable service. So you THINK you are in direct contact, but you are not. And CHNLOVE cashes in big money for this complete bubble. Men are scammed and sucked like crazy. Here is how it works:
a) first you see ladies that are far more beautiful on the picture than in real (I was lucky to get to one contact email and phone number directly after many PAID emails (luckily I speak some mandarin): the girl admitted that the photo on the agency website wasn't really her "real" face. And, after sending me her real photo, I must say she looked so horrible that I thought it was a entirely different person. And her character was entirely different from the translated emails: through the agency she appeared outgoing, open minded, etc.. In reality she was introverted, almost not talking a word, a ghost.
b) The agency fakes the photos through Adobe Illustrator. Perfect shiny white teeth (be warned: most chinese do not have white teeth at all due to the food ingredients...)
c) The agency makes you believe your dream comes true: they have perfect "translators" whiping out every of your suspicions with more (re-worked) photos in "real" environments, and by translating the emails according to YOUR EXPECTATIONS, not according to HER words... got it?
d) You keep sending your email address, even phone number. The reply will is standardized: "oh my dear, of course I am working very hard and long every day and it is not suitable for a lady to go to internet cafe alone in the night. I hope you understand." - I got this kind of standard reply in a exact COPY-PASTE format from various locations in China. That's an indicator there is a system behind.
e) CHNLOVE will first let you spend a lot of money before you get access to one of the girls. Once you get that access, you're in trouble: she is a totally different person than the one you met on the website. So...in great disappointment you start again with another lady. And there the vicious circle starts: you spend money again. They let you wait again. And you get another disappointment. After the third time receiving very similar texted hot emails full of love and passion, you may finally wake up and realize it is a bot...
f) You would be better off buying a japanese robot with a "love language" software.
g) If you wish to spend money and end up frustrated, please go to CHNLOVE. They will suck you well! :-)
The best way I found to weed out the phony profiles is to ask the selected lady to send you a “time stamp” photo. A “time stamp” is a photo with your name and date hand written on a sheet of paper held by the lady in a photo. This will assure you that the lady knows who you are and at the same time will give you an up to date view at what she looks like. It might be easier to send her one first and then request a return photo.
I also signed up for CHNlove about a year ago and wrote to several women. There are some fake and some real women on this site. The first one I wrote to, I was kind of lucky that she was real and she knew English so we exchanged e-mail addresses and even chatted online. however, she was indeed totally different from when we were communicating via translator. eventually we ended up losing touch, so I tried again and found a girl that was very attractive and almost in her first letters started saying "I love you" and such.. well after a few months and several hundred dollars, I kept giving her my e-mail address and QQ (a chinese chat program) ID, but she kept saying she doesn't have a computer, and it's dangerous for a young girl to go to the internet cafe by herself. I took the bait and continued purchasing credits to contact her and one day I got a contact on my QQ by a girl. She told me she was the translator for that particular girl I was communicating with, and that she had just quit her translating job due to the dishonesty.. so she told me the whole story about how they just "reply" to you and the girl that I "thought" I was writing to never knew I wrote to her.
yeah, complete shock. I thought I found the perfect woman too, but ended up that I was just communicating with the translator.
so in conclusion, there are some legit women, and there are some independent branches that do scams.. so I guess you just have to be careful in who you find. I would love to find another women there, but I would definitely be honest and up front and ask her for some proof she is real (not so directly but, you know what I mean)
oh, and I contacted CHNlove directly about the scam and even sent the documentation (the saved chat conversation from the translator confessing) and CHNlove did say there are many branches out there that they have to monitor and they are searching into that branch. They gave me a few free credits back and were very courteous, but it won't bring me that women that I thought I met..
boyinthesky777 - I had the exact same experience as you in that I found out I was ONLY communicating with the supposed translator. The translator sent me a private email informing me of the scam, implied she wanted to meet me and then NOTHING!
http://chnlove.com/ is a complete scam!
LOL, Scott, you should be proud of your charm, the translator must have a crush on you, and she has no reason to risk losing her job to tell you such a "truth", even if Chnlove is really a scam. Believe me I have been to some of these agencies before, many of the translators are young graduates looking for boyfriends as well. You must be very attractive to this translator. Why don't you contact Chnlove if you want to clear the whole thing? At least you'll be able to get some credits back. I have used chnlove so far and its ok for me, but you need to be very careful in order to avoid some rotten agencies or translators. As chnlove says, they can only do their best in monitoring the agencies, but nothing's perfect.
I went through a small Russian service, which allowed me to meet two young ladies who seemed nice, quite interested. In fact, I married one! While meeting her in Russia - and she did appear very much like her photo - she was for the most part well behaved, polite, fun and romantic while we in Russia. When she came to the U.S., she was very jealous of my children, said awful things about them and at times, violent toward me. The real trouble is that you don't really know the women in any detail, some may have serious character flaws. My wife was truly beautiful, but from a character perspective, the bride from hell.
I also have bad experience with the girls on this website and asianbeauties.com, in which many of the girls are the same but using different nickname. One of the girls gave me an address of a bank. She was interested to see me but when I went to China, she didnt reply my email and the agent told me that she felt offended because of me asking to many questions. What a lame excuses! Previously she also sent me almost the same story that she sent a few days before. Its impossible for her to forget that she has told me the story before because its not too long ago besides she told me that she only communicating with me. The second girl told me wrong information about her hometown, then after I made a complaint to the customer service, they told me that the girl didn't live there and a few days later, her hometown was changed. This girl also don't want to see me eventhough a few days before, she looks like excited to see me. The reason is because we haven't known each other long enough. She didn't tell me this before and I told her if she is afraid to see me, she obviously can see me with her brother or friend in a daylight and crowded place. She wanted me to communicate with her through the website for at least another year. In other words, she want me to spend money unnecessarily because her English is actually not bad. Now, you tell me what kind of girl is that? I also have another example, this girl gave me her email address but she replied through the website, which obviously I cannot read unless I pay. Her English is also good. Obviously, many of the girls on this websites have anintention to make you spend money, still
they are not interested to see you. My suggestion is to stay away from this websites, you will spend a lot of money before you find a good one, which h could be only 10%.
well, i must say the result of using such service depends on your luck and preparation really. Many men have contacted ladies and exchanged quite a few letters but don't know what to expect or do next. they're not aware of the difficulties in bringing a lady to their country either. This is the same situation with the ladies - in many cases, people don't realize the challenge til they discuss meeting in person. By that time, they become hesitant and unsure. So you need to make sure the lady is actually ready for meeting up before going to China. Also, getting advice from other men can help. Chnlove has a forum which allows all kinds of discussions, and many questions are answered. By the way, if I were you I would get Chnlove to remove these girls' profiles. if they're not sincere, they shouldn't be using the service. then our chances of finding a good one will increase. lol
I've been on the site for 2 years and went to China twice to meet girls, and back a third time to live for 6 months. Lot's of scams on the site, for both the men and the women. The instant chat won't assure that you are actually chatting with the girl. I had a lady I met on the site tell me this. There are also phantom letter writers, and the women often write the same exact letter to different men. If you want specific profile numbers of girls to avoid, let me know. I met a lot of money hungry Gold-diggers.
I've been in this sight for 1 week now so I'm a newbie! Now I'm scared! LOL! I've found being on sights like Match, Mate 1 ect, that there was so many fake profiles I thought I was working for the company to turn in the scammers! I was so sickened by these sights that I have become paranoid of all internet dating! Isn't there any honest people? agency's anymore? Has anyone found a real honest dating sight? Please let me know! I found this Chnlove sight through Facebook and thought well why not! I absolutely love asian woman and I herd they are good wives! Unlike allot of western woman! right? LOL! I'm still gonna try this for a while, I found this page to be informative! thanks guys! I have already found a few girls that's letters seem to be partial copy/paste..however, I'm guilty of partially sending out letters like that also! Especially the main part of the letter right? Anyways...This sight seemed to be a real good sight compared to others. I thought I finally found an honest place to find (real) girls..But every sight has there problems...greed! I think I'm better off going down to the local pub! haha! or just taking a trip to China or some nice asian country. Well, I've got 8 credits left..midas well used them up on one of my favorite air-brushed ladies! ha! good luck gentleman!
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! Stay away. Been there, done that! Don't waste your money.
It looks like not much has changed on CHNlove in May 2012. This site does everything possible to prevent you from having direct contact with any of the girls. I even tried a live chat session but was frustrated because the translator was obviously not providing my contact information. I am giving it one more time with a woman who listed her English as being Good, but I am not very optimistic. It's too bad. It could be a good site if they didn't make it so difficult to establish direct contact. I would also add that it would not surprise me if the girls on this site may be getting a share of the fees they generate from any emails and live chats they participate in. It seems like a modern version of the bar "B" girls trying to get you to buy another drink. ChnLove is affiliated with IdateAsia which seems to operate excatly the same but has mostly women from Thailand. I will provide an update in a few days if I have any better success communicating through this web site, but it seems very unlikely. My recommendation is STAY AWAY and save your money.
Those dating sites heavily airbrush the images, to make the East Asian ladies look as much like White women as possible.
The guys getting scammed, are most likely vulnerable and lonely White men.
People are usually more attracted to those who look like they are from the same race.
They want to target White men with money. In Asia, they connect Whiteness with wealth. Although we know the truth, that wealth depends on the individual, not race.
So it makes sense that the images of East Asian ladies are made to look like young and flawless White women, making childlike poses.
East Asians do not naturally have white skin, big eyes, curvaceous figures, etc., like White women do. Those are three big warning signals to watch out for. If you see those kinds of images, it's F-R-A-U-D.
I hope this helps. We need to spread the word to our loved ones.

COMPLANT CHNLOVE
Scam all around. Ladies get scammed Men get scammed. The AGENCY has translate and everything goes through the agency. The last thing they want is direct communication. Any postal service to China othjer than e-mail is useless. An example is a gift of flowers; look at the cost 49$, would buy flowers for a month. Mistakes are always self serving by the agency
STAY AWAY FROM CHNLOVE!!!
