• Don't send money to someone, especially if you haven't met them in person. Be wary of any lady who demands money (a sick relative needing money is a classic scam).
• If you're writing letters to someone you met on an Asian personals site, make sure you can also contact them using other forms of communication (e.g. telephone, instant messaging and webcam). Don't get fobbed off with excuses. Asian countries are a lot more technologically advanced than you may think, and Internet access and mobile phones are nearly ubiquitous.
• Actually, that last point is really important. If communicating with a lady from a different country then try to see if they will arrange a webcam session with you. This will also allow you to confirm that they actually look like their online profile photos!
• Be wary of telling someone too much personal information about yourself.
• Use established agencies with good reputations.
• Be wary of dating someone who is much younger than yourself. While Asian ladies tend to prefer older men, so do scammers!
• Be especially wary of ladies under 30 years old and those who have not previously been married. Bear in mind that some ladies may have children from previous relationships.
• Don't let love cloud your judgements. Try not to fall in love with someone until you have met them in person.

• Don't think that all Asian ladies are perfect and superior to Western women! They are human, and they have their faults.
• Be realistic about the language barrier. If a lady has a tonal language as her native tongue (i.e. Chinese and Thai ladies) and doesn't speak English then the chances of her being able to understand you without a translator are remote.

The biggest tip I can give for looking for an asian wife online is this - take your time! Take time to read replies from ladies, and wait at least a day before writing the response. Take a few months before you decide to visit one in person. Also be wary of getting married to somebody you've just met.

China is a massive country and could be regarded as a continent rather than one country. Due to its size Chinese women are very variable in appearance. Generally the women who live in the southern Cantonese-speaking provinces such as Guangdong (including cities such as Guangzhou and Shenzen) are shorter and darker skinned compared to the Chinese who live in central and more northerly cities such as Beijing. Due to its geographical size and number of different ethnic groups there are a large number of languages and dialects spoken in China. Many cities even have their own dialects. Mandarin is a tonal language, and has a reputation for being hard to learn. Fortunately it's easier than people think. Japan is a very wealthy country and very Westernised.

Japan is a male dominated society, and there are limited senior career options for women. A Japanese woman is expected to look after her husband. Consquently Japanese women make attentive, lovely wives.

Japan is long and thin and composed of many different islands. It spans many latitudes - from the temperate north with its bitterly cold winters, to the tropical islands of the south. As a result of the latitude spa, Japanese women are very variable in appearance. They take great pride in their appearance and dress very well in public.

Not many Westerners have been to Japan. Outside the major cities there isn't a great deal of English signage so travelling around can be difficult.

Japanese is a very difficult language for Westerners to learn. It has three writing systems (Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji) and the grammar is extremely complex. Fortunately pronunciation of Japanese is very easy, so it is possible to learn a few key phrases.

It is easy for Japanese women to travel to Western countries without the visa problems encountered by women from less wealthy nations such as Thailand and China.

Vietmam is an up and coming country within Asia. It might be a good place to find a wife, but not much is known about wife finding in Vietnam, so take care.

Like Japan, South Korea is wealthy and industrialised. Korea has its own particular cuisine and language. Korean women are lovely, but maybe they've been overlooked by Western men.
